Paperwork Finalized in Guiyang

We woke up around 6:45am pretty normally. Besides getting up once at 12:40, it was a very good first night! We are getting ready to go to breakfast. We are meeting Vicki at 9:40am to go back to the agency office to finalize the paperwork.   Andrew was up about 7:15.  This morning he seemed to be a little bit of a slow riser. He was awake in the crib, but not quite ready to get up yet.  Now that he awake he is back to our happy little boy J

We met Vicki and the driver took us back to the adoption office. We turned in the money and received our certificate that says he is officially our son. We gave 3 gifts to different people, which is customary. We then had a ceremony with the other adopting couple. We received a minority doll from the office director and a silver longevity charm from the orphanage director. The driver took us back to the hotel and we discussed tomorrow’s plans of going to a monkey park.

It is warm again (to us) today but is supposed to get cooler over the rest of the week. They sent maintenance up to our room because the outlets in the bathroom quit working. Scary having 200 Volt and no GFCI outlets. We now know the breaker panel is in the closet. We finally figured out we could open on windows (on the 29th floor) and let some cooler fresh air in. We learned today they really don’t have air conditioning here, it’s just an illusion for the westerns.

We all 3 walked over to the underground Wal-Mart supercenter. We thought we were getting funny looks before, now everyone stops and stares. We bought some ramen noodles that we can use with the hot water pot in our room. We do not have a microwave. We also bought some more milk and Pringles. We also had to find a cup with a built in straw because that is basically all he knows how to drink. Andrew fell asleep while Jason was carrying him back to the hotel.

We laid Andrew on the bed and he slept for 1 ½ hours.  We ate some snacks, peanut butter sandwiches and the noodles we bought. He ate very well and seems to do fine with the new cup with the built-in straw. He played with stacking cups for a long time by the window, thanks to all those that suggested them. He played with them for at least an hour. We then ate some gold fish and he likes those but not the apple crisps.

Kimberly and Andrew colored in the book and he liked doing that for a while. Jason worked on the notes from today. We talked to Vicki (our translator) and she will pick his passport up on Thursday. We are doing city tours the next two days as well as the park tomorrow. Andrew is still happy and we can tell is very smart. He scoots around on his bottom (rather quickly) but Jason showed him how to crawl normal and he does that sometimes now.

Just going to hang out in the room for the rest of the evening.
Here is a picture of his 3 HEAVY layers that he was wearing when we got him.
