Museum Visit in Guiyang

Andrew went to bed about 8:30pm after a bath. He enjoys the bath. He really wanted to go asleep about 6:30pm but we kept him going. Kimberly and Andrew started their morning between 5 and 6 but went back to sleep until 7am, when Jason got up. Andrew likes his milk first thing in the morning. He holds the milk bottle himself sitting in front of some pillows on the bed.

We Skyped with Pauline/Jim/JP, Andrew was being very good and very talkative. We went to the breakfast buffet and sat next to the couple from New Jersey. We met Vicki and we headed to the museum.  On the way to the Museum we saw two scooters rear end each other.  At the Museum they had a stroller and we tried Andrew out in it. He didn’t really care too much for it, but it made him face the person pushing instead of looking out. There was a projector on the ceiling that projected fish on the floor. He really liked it and we stood there for awhile watching.  We learned several things about the history of the Guizhou province and the area that Andrew is from. Afterwards we went into a really neat gift shop that had several things hand made from this province. The driver held Andrew while we shopped and Andrew was very good for him.

On the way back to the hotel Andrew fell asleep. Vicki and the driver dropped us off at the hotel. She had to work on some translations for us and to go get his passport. We put Andrew in his crib and he slept another 1 ½ hours. Kimberly and Jason ate peanut butter sandwiches and worked on packing our suitcases. So far we are around 40 pounds or less on each, since we can only have up to 44 pounds on our inside China flights.

Vicki called and we met her in the lobby. She has the notary paperwork completed and has Andrew’s passport. This is all good news! We also talked to the other couple staying in our hotel. Jason, Kimberly & Andrew went to the coffee shop run by the American. We had cherry and strawberry iced tea and good cheesecake! It was so good to have a drink with ice in it. They don’t use ice here.  While we were in the coffee shop, a couple from Holland came in.  Andrew really liked them.  On the way out we talked with them a little.  They work with adoption in China.  She gave us a little more information about Chinese adoptions.  It was a very interesting conversation.

We went back to the hotel went to the other couple’s room to chat a little bit. We came back to the room and Andrew played. We skyped with Rick/Kortney/Kids before they went to school. We got Andrew ready for bed and brushed his teeth. He actually knew what to do with the toothbrush and doesn't seem to mind it. He fell asleep about 21:30. We leave for Guangzhou tomorrow, the hotel gave us late check-out tomorrow at 3pm.

  5. I bet it takes him a while to figure out this is for ever! Isn't it amazing how these kids can adapt? I'll never quite understand how they can be so strong....
